More than one path through jazz history
Part of the pleasure of jazz is moving between composed melodies and spontaneous expression, individual voices and the ensemble. You can follow its history in order, or simply begin with an instrument or a singing voice you love.
This guide offers starting points for listening. Compare different periods in an artist’s career or explore another region in the same era, and discover connections of your own.
