Pedro Martins
Meet the artist
A guitarist and multi-instrumentalist from Brazil. He combines Brazilian songs with jazz and rock music in a smooth manner. His collaborative work with Kurt Rosenwinkel also showcases his unique musicality. Soft guitar, voice and keyboards create a floating atmosphere.
Harmonies associated with Brazilian song sit close to rock and contemporary jazz colors. Detailed playing keeps melody approachable, serving the song's expression rather than obscuring it. A multi-instrumentalist's perspective favors the landscape of the whole recording over isolated solo showcases. His work conveys a natural mixing of musical languages that nationality or genre alone cannot describe.
Where to start listening
Listen beyond guitar technique to the soft layers of voice and harmony. Notice where overlapping melodies become a single musical landscape.
