Milton Nascimento
Meet the artist
A Brazilian singer-songwriter raised in Minas Gerais, a central figure in Clube da Esquina and a notable collaborator with Wayne Shorter. Moving between clear high notes and resonant low ones, his voice gives melodies an expansive reach.
Songs connect the musical world of Minas Gerais with rock and jazz, making sophisticated harmony feel natural. Collaboration allows many personalities to inhabit the same music. With Wayne Shorter, voice and saxophone converse across borders. Vocal inflection and melodic direction communicate strongly even without understanding every word.
Where to start listening
Follow the direction of the long vocal lines as well as their pitch. These two settings reveal how the voice blends into different ensembles.
